We would like thank every one who came
to see us at the the 2006 CES. Everything we shipped
arrived on time, in one piece and it all worked. Even the
weather was on our side, with glorious sunshine every day.

Viola designer Paul
Jayson relaxes in one of the few quiet periods during what was a
very busy show. Our main system
(shown above) comprised a Viola
Cadenza preamplifier,
a pair of Viola Forte
monoblock amplifiers (adjacent to the speakers), driving Viola
Allegro speakers coupled
with the Basso passive sub-woofers. This was all driven by the
excellent Bel Canto universal player. In between the Fortes is
our Viola Symphony
200W stereo amplifier. The 75W Fortes worked so we that we never
got around connecting the Symphony, though quite a few people took
some convincing that we didn't have it driving the sub-woofers. |

This was the first US showing of the
Forte monoblocks and of the production versions of the Viola Allegro and
Basso speakers. Paul Jayson has made some clever adjustments to the
designs of the cabinets, resulting in improved definition
of the low bass, which was very good to start with going by the comments
we received at the show last year when we demonstrated the prototypes.
At the same time he has preserved the excellent
characteristics of the original design.

Also new at the show
this year was our Viola Duet electronic cross-over, another Paul
Jayson creation. This is a 2 band
stereo unit. It has been developed from our
Quartet 4 band mono
cross-over and uses the same filters, power supply and chassis. |

One of the great things about the CES is
that we get a chance to catch up with a lot of old friends. |

Harry van Dalen and Martin Odijk who run the Dutch
high-end audio distributor More Music and distribute Viola in the
Benelux countries. They also run
Turtle Records
and kindly left us their latest release - Jean Muller playing a
selection of Chopin pieces. This excellent piano recording
became a firm favorite during the show. We have used their picture from
last year, but as they haven't changed in the last 12 months we don't
think they will mind us using it again. |

Wolgang Linhard from
our distributor in Germany, Audio Excellence. The reason
Wolfgang is smiling is because he came to see us on the first day of
the show and before he had been to the Convention Center.

Mr. Hideaki Nishikawa, President of our Japanese
distributor Zephyrn. Japan is the most demanding high-end audio market in the world and through
his hard work and expertise it has become our largest market. |

closely with them in the future.. |

Han Tin Kwang from
Reference Audio, our distributor in Singapore and Malaysia. Last
year Han picked the day with the heaviest rain to come and see
us. This year he brought us better weather.
If you are visiting
Singapore, make sure you visit his showroom, which is located in
the Adelphi Building. Not only will you hear from excellent
sounds, but you will also meet one of the nicest people in the audio
industry. |

Miura-san, one of the
leading Japanese high-end audio reviewers and long time friend paid us a
visit. He was working on his show report for the Japanese
high-end audio magazine Stereo Sound, but took time off from his
busy schedule so that we could catch up on the news from Japan. |

We would like to
acknowledge the help we had from a couple of friends in making this
all work.
First mention goes to Mike Kochman of Echo Busters, for his
excellent room tuning panels. These really work and without
them we would never have been able to tame the difficult acoustics
of the room.
More information about Echo Busters may be found at
www.echobusters.com. |

Second mention goes
to Mike Broughton of The Audiophile Source. Mike's considerable room and system tuning skills enabled
us to get the most out of our system.
Anyone who wishes to have their system set up to provide maximum
listening pleasure can get in touch with Mike at 1 970 485 2472 or visit his web site
at
Audiophile Source.
Mike is also a
talented photographer and has just opened a gallery in Kremmling,
Colorado.
We'd also like to thank Mike's wife Lee-Ann for letting Michael come
out and play.

As last year, we'd like to
thank the staff at our favorite eatery in Las Vegas, the Peppermill.
Once again they helped us to keep body, soul and stomach together
during the show. |
